‘Let all that you do be done with love’
1 Corinthians 16:14
Love sits at the heart of everything that we do as a school and community. Our vision is driven by four key passages from scripture:
‘Love your neighbour as you love yourself’
Mark 12:31
Loving, valuing and accepting yourself, either as a child or an adult, is a key part to good mental health and wellbeing. This includes recognising that all people are uniquely made in the image of God and equally loved by God regardless of who they love or how they identify. Our children will celebrate this uniqueness along with their skills and talents which they are encouraged to share with others.
‘Love one another deeply, from your heart.’
1 Peter 1:22
You cannot love in isolation. Loving your neighbour (others) and the challenge that this brings allows us to explore who is my neighbour and lets us explore and learn about difference and diversity in all its forms across society. We want our children to treat others with dignity and respect and to celebrate the differences which make up modern Britain and the wider world.
‘Whatever you do work at it with all your heart.’
Colossians 3:23
We strive for academic excellence for all, providing a broad, balanced and ambitious education to children of all faith and no faith through the lens of Christianity.
Children will have a core foundational knowledge across all subjects reflecting the greatest that culture has to offer inspiring their learning. Our curriculum is carefully designed and delivered to enable children to know more and remember more. For those who need it we aim to target intervention to help children catch up and keep up.
We aim to encourage an understanding of the wider world beyond the immediate area and a courageous advocacy to seek the best for all. Children will understand that all individuals have responsibilities and can make a difference for good.
Adults will be encouraged and supported in continuing their own learning journey.
‘I have come in order that you might have life – life in all its fullness.’
John 10:10
The world offers an infinite number of possibilities for all. We want our children to embrace these opportunities safely and to the full both in school and beyond to flourish into the young people they are meant to be.
Our children will be encouraged to ask questions, debate, analyse and think critically about their own learning. Communication with others through sharing, teaching others and performing are key skills to be learnt to allow children to be active and informed participants in the wider community and cultural conversations.
We aim to create confident young people who can be full participants in an increasingly interconnected world.
