Splashing in muddy puddles

What a wonderful first week in Nursery! Well done to all of the children who have returned after the summer and our new starters, you have settled in so well.

Nursery made the most of the rain last week and thoroughly enjoyed getting their wellies on and splashing in muddy puddles!

Un, Deux, Trois

Check out our hopscotch skills!

We used this playground game as a fun way to rehearse our numbers 1 – 10 in French. Some of us even tried counting backwards!

The Romans have arrived in Year 4!

We have been excited to start reading our new class text, ‘So You Think You’ve Got It Bad: A Kids Life in Ancient Rome’. So far we have read all about home life and we agree that it would be very messy to eat lying down!

In PE, we created some Roman dances. Each movement represents a fact about Ancient Rome. Can you work out what the facts could be?

Practising letterjoin

Year 1 have had a brilliant week and have settled in well.  In our handwriting sessions this week we have been learning the lead in and lead out lines for the letters i, l and t.  It was tricky practising writing the letters on the lines in our handwriting books but we soon started to get the hang of it!

Spinning Seeds

Year 2 have had a fabulous first week back at school!  In Science we have been looking at seed dispersal as part of our Plants topic.  Here we are testing our own maple tree seed models made from paper:

Sketching British animals

In year 3, to start off our prehistoric art unit, we examined some cave paintings. We thought about how people in that time had no way to travel (other than on foot) so could only draw native animals. We sketched some animals ourselves by lightly marking out the shape of the animal and then adding more detail with a real focus on proportion.

A visit to Bays Leap Farm – Made in the North East Week

The children in Reception and Nursery have been learning about dairy farms and cows this week as part of our whole school Made In the North East Project. We were lucky enough to visit our local dairy farm, Bays Leap Farm, to see for ourselves the process of how milk comes from the cow to our glass or plate. We even got to sample some milkshakes and ice creams … a perfect treat on a hot and sunny day!

Shipbuilding – Made in the North East!

Year 6 really enjoyed meeting Iain today from Sunderland Maritime Heritage, who told us the amazing history of shipbuilding in the North East. We are super excited to visit the museum tomorrow to learn more about our fascinating shipbuilding past.

Bee-ing Animators!

Year 6 have been working with Haltwhistle Film Project to make a stop motion animated film about the importance of bees. This is their part of the Pele Trust bee transition project for High School.

Working in teams the children have planned, created their props and used video recording equipment to make their animation.

We look forward to sharing our finished animations with you.
